Ever wished there was a gospel written specifically for those really bleak, hopeless moments when all appears lost? A gospel writer that seems to sit with us in our questions and brokenness? The Gospel of Mark might be the account of Jesus’ life for exactly those moments.

Written right around the destruction of the Temple, Mark’s gospel speaks to a world in which all seems lost. Reflect on Jesus’ entry to Jerusalem, passion, crucifixion, and the empty tomb along with students and special guest Dr. Brandon Bruning in this #Coronavirus edition of BIBL 215. You can stream the 3-part discussion session via YouTube below.

Here’s the question my students are pondering as they work from home due to #Covid19 … In what ways does Mark’s representation of God (especially in the crucifixion narrative) resonate with what we’ve seen across the biblical text throughout the term? And in what ways does this representation of God resonate with your own experiences?

These conversations follow-on from previous classes on Netflix’s Messiah & Mark: 1-10.

grace & peace,
